Northern Corridor Research Centre (NCRC)

Description: Among the functions of NCRC are focused on socio-economic development of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), providing expert service that acts as an advisory panel, to cooperate with federal and state agencies in carrying out research and consultancy in various fields. NCRC existence serves as a center of excellence in research and consultation. NCRC also serve as a support to the implementation of development programmes for the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER). This is realized by the potential UUM expertise as a researcher and consultant to facilitate the achievement of the NCER. The existence of NCRC in UUM will also help improve the performance of the university towards its vision.

Co-Operative and Entrepreneurship Development Institute(CEDI)

Description: Cooperative and Entrepreneurial Development Institute (CEDI), Universiti Utara Malaysia was established on 1 March 1990. At its inception CEDI called Business and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (PPU). On 1 November 1993 KPPU has been upgraded and is known as the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development Institute (MHI). On 1 January 2009, the CPI has been rebranded as the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development and Cooperation or Co -operative and Entrepreneurship Development Institute (CEDI). On January 1, 2011, function improved with the establishment of Post- Graduate Studies and Research division in line with the university's aspiration to be a research university. CEDI office is located in Convention Complex which has a complete infrastructure with Business Simulation Centre, Entrepreneur Information Center, Dining Hall and Cafeteria .

Institute of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad's Thoughts (IPDM)

Description: The institute conducts research seminars, symposiums, conferences, and colloquiums on various aspects of thinking of the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the figures of the country. Among the main focus areas are education, leadership, youth / young women, security, politics, management, law, economics, finance, relationship between religion, foreign policy and globalization issues, science and technology including ICT and human resource development.

Centre for Testing Measurement & Appraisal (CeTMA)

Description: Its establishment reflects the university’s deep concern for the need in creating awareness about behavioral implications in business and education. At CeTMA, we aim to serve organizations in the areas of psychometric testing, and assessments and personality profiling. Among others, we offer expertise in testing, measurement and appraisal; survey research; contract research; consultation; instrument development, data collection and professional data analysis services; and customized training.

UUM Research Institute for Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore (ITS)

Description: The Institute for Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore (ITS) was established on January 2011 and is housed under the Ghazali Shafie Graduate School of Government (GSGSG) at the UUM’s College of Law, Government and International Studies (COLGIS). Its mission is to enhancing research activities and collaborations with institute of higher learning of the three countries and Malaysia. The institute has a vision to become a leading regional referral center for ASEAN Studies. These mission and vision have been conducted through regional academic visits and promotions, joint academic research, publication, and, collaboration; and training in the region.

Institute of Excellence for Islamicjerusalem Studies (IEIJS)

Description: Institute of Excellence for Islamicjerusalem Studies (IEIJS) of University Utara Malaysia (UUM) College of Law, Government and International Studies (COLGIS) to be the first and the only academic institution in the Muslim world and the second in the globe that focuses on Islamicjerusalem Studies. A special appreciation goes to UUM, which pioneers this great initiative to establish this innovative institute. Indeed, UUM seems very interested and committed to develop and promote the new field of inquiry of Islamicjerusalem Studies since 2012 when the founder of this new field, Prof. Abd El-Fattah El-Awaisi came here as a Visiting Professor of International Studies. To institutionalise the advancement of this new field, on 13 January 2013, UUM Senate approved the establishment of IEIJS. In addition to advancing research and scholarship in Islamicjerusalem Studies, this unique institute would promote this new field of enquiry.
