UUM ONLINE: 6 August - Parents and guardians of the First Semester students of the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) 2017/2018 Academic Session were given a briefing about UUM yesterday.
The briefing was conducted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek Hj Abdul Karim, who represented the Vice-Chancellor at the Mu'Adzam Shah Hall. The briefing was also broadcast live at the Bukit Kachi Hall.
The briefing session provided the parents, the guardians, and the new students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of UUM with regard to the aspects involving academics, the co-curricular programme, the facilities available, as well as the university’s achievements and the regulations that all must comply with.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek also urged the parents and the guardians to take an interest in their children's academic achievements and to monitor their performance from time to time so as to ensure that their children continued to excel.
He also informed the students that, if they encountered any problem while at UUM, they should come forward and inform the University authorities about it, especially the staff at the Student Affairs Department, who were ever ready to assist students.
A question and answer session was also held at the briefing to field any queries that the parents and the guardians might have regarding UUM and student-related issues.
Also present were members of the University Management Committee and UUM officials.
