UUM ONLINE: To instigate the development in theories and applications of Mathematics and Statistics, UUM through the School of Quantitative Sciences (SQS) organised a four-day international conference- the 13th IMT-GT International Conference on Mathematics, Statistics and Their Applications (ICMSA) starting on 4 November at the EDC Hotels & Resorts, UUM.
The Chairperson of ICMSA 2017, Prof. Dr. Haslinda Ibrahim said, the conference provided a unique platform for students, academics, researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas, theoretical underpinnings, experiences and research outcomes in various fields of Mathematics and Statistics.
She added that, the knowledge sharing session would indirectly unleash new directions for future research and development in Mathematics and Statistics.
"Throughout the conference, local and international participants shared and exchanged lots of experiences and knowledge with notable local and international speakers from the academia and the industry in current quantitative techniques and technologies.
"I hope this conference will pave the way for better networking and collaboration opportunities for all participants, especially in the IMT-GT area," she added.
Among the speakers involved in the conference were Prof. Dr. Budi Nurani Ruchjana, Professor of Statistics from Universitas Padjadjaran, Indonesia; Prof. Dr. Ahmad Izani Ismail, Professor of Applied Mathematics from Universiti Sains Malaysia and Dr. Konvika Kongkul from Thaksin University, Thailand.
