Students Must Acquire Multiple Skills To Thrive In The Era Of The Fourth Industrial Revolution
UUM ONLINE: The Fourth Industrial Revolution or better known as IR4.0 requires graduates to possess more than one skill.

"This requirement is a challenge and all of you should acquire various skills that are essential for your career, given that you might have to perform more than one job at the same time. This is the nature of IR4.0," said the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani in his speech during the New Students Oath Taking Ceremony for the First Semester of the 2018/2019 Academic Session at Mu'adzam Shah Hall, yesterday.

Obviously, besides honing the soft skills required by employers such as the ability to communicate in English and other languages, they also need to be flexible and able to work in teams, display leadership and also problem solving ability.

"Thus, all students must make full use of the opportunity to pursue knowledge and gain experience throughout their study years in UUM. Students must be observant and take advantage of all the opportunities and facilities available at the university and be prepared to embrace the revolution and the challenges that lie ahead after you leave this university in four years time," added the Vice-Chancellor.

In addition, Professor Dr. Ahmad Bashawir extended his congratulations to all students who have accepted the offer to pursue their studies at UUM.

"A few moments ago, the new students have expressed their pledge to abide all rules, constitutions, statutes and regulations of the university and their commitment to make the most of the opportunities available at the university while preserving the good name of the university.

Thus, you must keep in mind the high expectations of your parents and guardians who wish that their children will become honourable and excellent individuals in the academic and non-academic fields.”

At the event, Abu Dzar Abdul Aziz, a Bachelor of International Business Management student led the new students in reciting the oath in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor and UUM officers.
