The presentations which were witnessed by UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Wira Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, prepared the School to proceed with a draft of Phase 2 of the University Strategic Plan (1016-2020) successfully, and ensured UUM to become an eminent management university by year 2020.
The Vice-Chancellor, who chaired the session, said the presentations served as a platform where discussions and debates took place in preparing a benchmark of each School involved for a period of at least five years.
"We aim that by the end of Phase 2 of this Strategic Plan, UUM will receive recognition of its academic programmes by professional bodies. We also aim to be among the top 50 in Asia, top 25 in Southeast Asia and top five in Malaysia university ranking.
"A benchmark of the respected schools is much needed as it would further boost UUM's morale in striving to achieve its vision to become a renowned institution of higher learning worldwide.
"On the other hand, like a Malay proverb goes 'measure the coat on our own body', in striving to achieve our targets we need to look within the capability of ourselves and to what extent our ability manage to attain to a higher level," he said.
He further explained that in order to become a respected university and become a reference for others, all the Schools must set their target or 'milestone' every year.
"I fervently hope that all the deans, professors, lecturers and staff at all the Schools to work hand-in-hand and unite within the existing networks amongst them in realising the designed agendas of the University.
"Besides, reliability of the University agendas was designed in accordance with the Malaysian Education Development Plan for Higher Education (2015 – 2025) in achieving the targeted goals by year 2020," he said.
On 1 March 2015, a total of five (5) schools of the UUM College of Business (UUM COB) made their presentations, meanwhile schools and centre of excellence under College of Law, Government and International Studies (UUM COLGIS) will present their part in the near future.
