The audit exercise which began on 22 April involved programmes offered by the School of Quantitative Sciences and the School of Government. All in all six auditors and two AUN-QA secretariats conducted the exercise.
A total of three academic programmes namely Bachelor of Decision Science with Honours, Bachelor of Business Mathematics with Honours and Bachelor of Management Development with Honours underwent evaluation process in order to attain the AUN-QA certification.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Hassan Ali said the comments and suggestions made by the AUN-QA assessment team would greatly assist UUM in improving its academic programmes.
"If we succeed in achieving the AUN-QA certification, the success will indirectly provide us with more opportunities and avenues to promote UUM internationally, hence, increasing UUM’s performance and its standings the world rankings.
"I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all auditors involved in the evaluation process and I sincerely hope that all members of the audit team are satisfied with the services rendered by the UUM members of staff throughout the course of the audit exercise," he said.
Presentation of the audit results began with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chavalit Wongse-ek and Professor Dr. Raymund Sision, representatives for the group of auditors who evaluated the Bachelor of Decision Science programme followed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Kay Chuan and Dr. Leni Sofia Heliani who read out the audit results for the Bachelor of Business Mathematics programme. Finally, Prof. Dr. Satria Bijaksana and Dr. Rosula Reyes presented the audit results for the Bachelor of Management Development programme.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Executive Director of AUN, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti in his speech stressed that the AUN-QA is not an accreditation but a body that provides friendly peer to peer assessment which aims to improve the quality of the academic programmes offered.
He said overall the audit team was satisfied with the facilities available at UUM especially with the setting up of U-Assist, the library and the University Health Centre.
Earlier, the AUN-QA assessment team also paid the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Wira Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak a courtesy visit at his office.
