The second assessment exercise was conducted on 22 to 24 April 2015 involving three academic programmes i.e. Bachelor of Decision Science with Honours, Bachelor of Business Mathematics with Honours and Bachelor of Development Management with Honours.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Prof. Dr. Hassan Ali said, the Bachelor of International Affairs with Honours from the School of International Studies was evaluated during the first assessment exercise and the programme received its ASEAN-QA certification in 2013. The second assessment exercise was conducted in April 2015 involving three academic programmes.
"Alhamdulillah, in the second assessment exercise, the assessors were certainly pleased with the quality of the Bachelor of Business Mathematics with Honours programme and at the moment, we are still waiting for the result of the assessment exercise for the Bachelor of Decision Science with Honours, and Bachelor of Development Management with Honours. The success in securing the certification will enthuse us to intensify our efforts in gaining the AUN-QA certification for these academic programmes,” said Prof. Dr. Hassan Ali at the Opening Ceremony of the ASEAN-QA Audit assessment exercise at the Senate Meeting Room recently.
He added, the certification received from AUN-QA will offer more openings to promote UUM at the international level, thus improving UUM’s position in the world rankings. A total of four assessors and two AUN-QA secretariat were involved in the three-day assessment exercise.
The Deputy Executive Director of AUN, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti stated that, AUN-QA is an ongoing and friendly peer to peer assessment which aspires to enrich the quality of academic programmes. AUN-QA helps to accelerate the integration and promotion of regional identity by encouraging the development of human resources to strengthen the existing network of universities and leading institutions of higher education in the region.
"In fact, AUN-QA will also implement a new set of assessment criteria developed in accordance to the regional education trends by July this year after getting the approval from the board of AUN-QA trustees," he added.
The team of assessors and the AUN-QA secretariat were taken on a campus tour, including the Sultanah Bahiyah Library, U-Assist and lecture halls. Discussion and interview sessions with students and alumni were also held during the assessment exercise.
