The Chairman of the seminar, Mr Ahmad Rasidi Abdullah, who is also the Director of the Chancellery, said that the seminar aims to expose participants to the blue ocean strategy in the governance of organisation in a bid to boost the performance of services provided by both the public and private sector in the interest of the organisation.
"Through this seminar, participants will maximize their productivity for the benefit of the organisation in addition to making wise decisions when performing their duties to ensure continuous growth in the administrative sector," he said.
A total of five figures who are experts in their fields will present their papers in the seminar namely the Director of Institute of Quality Management (IPQ) UUM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah; Deputy Secretary - General ( Strategic Planning & Management, Dr. Aminuddin Hassim; Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Idham Film Academy, Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri; Chief Executive Officer, Inland Revenue Board, Tan Sri Datuk Dr Mohd Shukor Mahfar and Director General of the Prisons Department of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Zulkifli Omar.
The seminar was officiated by Sabah State Assembly Speaker, Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Mohd. Salleh Tun Said Keruak..
He said the government fully supports the efforts of the state government in organising events which specifically guarantees the public’s welfare.
"As we know, the Blue Ocean Strategy was introduced in 2005 and in 2009 the Malaysian government launched the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS).
With the efforts carried out so far and if practiced well, achievements and success of the administrative sector will continue to rise steadily towards excellence, "he said during the launch of the programme last night.
In a related development, as a sense of responsibility and concern for the disaster which struck the town of Ranau, Sabah recently, the Chancellery also launched the Sabah Earthquake Relief Caring Fund to assist the victims affected by the earthquake in the region.
Mr. Ahmad Rasidi said the proceeds of the contribution collected throughout the duration of the governance seminar will be a sincere contribution from UUM to the disaster-stricken Malaysians in Ranau, Sabah.
"It is hoped that this collection will be able to help those in need," he said.
In the incident which took place at 7.15 am on Friday, an earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale struck the area of Ranau in Sabah, making it the strongest earthquake ever experienced in Malaysia so far.
The moderate earthquake was followed by a series of small tremors which were also felt in several places including Tambunan, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Belud.
