During the meeting, the JHEP members of staff were requested to focus on providing the best services to students, including on aspects concerning holistic development as well as alumni.
He said that the alumni should play proactive role in contributing and providing more significant impact on the university.
"I also call upon the JHEP to be more innovative and creative and more commercialised as income can be generated from the various facilities available on campus namely the Student Accommodation Centre (SAC), Student Residential Halls, Cultural Centre, Sports Centre and student associations.
"The existing documentation unit should be improved and fine-tuned to ensure that the treasures of the university are preserved. As a sizable department, the JHEP should be a role model to the other departments.
"Moreover, JHEP should also play its role in ensuring that entrepreneurial values can be instilled amongst the students so as to ensure that projects run by them do not rely solely on funds from the university.
"With the rapid development of the technology world today and with many students gaining exposure to a variety of issues through the social media, there is a need for the staff at the JHEP and principals of DPP to play their roles in ensuring that activities conducted on campus ground could be publicised and made viral through the existing on-campus social media, "he said.
He also reiterated that activities which require the involvement of students in the university to also be linked with UUM industry partners with the help of the UUM Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC).
At the same time, he reminded the attendees of the need to monitor negative cultures in order to ensure that the university community especially the students is not affected.
He also said that the relationship with students should not be the only focus in fact members of staff should also remind and look out for each to ensure that the services rendered could be further improved.
"In conjunction with the Visit Kedah Year 2016, I hope the JHEP can plan activities or programmes to attract both local and overseas tourists who come to Kedah and at the same time stop by UUM and take the Educational Tour, a concept which is practised by UUM," he said.
Also present at the meeting were the Director of the Student Affairs and Alumni Department, Dr. Mohd Dino Khairri Shariffuddin; Director of the Chancellery, Mr. Ahmad Rasidi Abdullah; Director of the CUIC, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hartini Ahmad and Director of Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hijattulah Abdul Jabbar.
