The Vice-Chancellor congratulated all the recipients for successfully completing the executive certificate course which resulted from various discussions and collaborative works between JKM and JTKSM.

According to him, the module which is 'tailor-made' takes into account the needs of both the department and the needs of the profession.

"On account of the expertise and experience of cooperation with JKM and JTKSM, UUM is honoured to be given the confidence and trust to handle these short courses, indirectly UUM will assist in terms of expertise and implementation of the development, improvement, management and upgrading of skills, knowledge and related applications.

"We also welcome potential staff of JKM and JTKSM to pursue higher education at UUM since there is a second channel of new student intake for those who have relevant work experience in social work and counselling in the Bachelor programme," he said.

He added that UUM has also welcomed two officials from therespective departments who are interested in pursuing studies at Masters and PhD levels in which this semester, UUM offers both Master of Social Work as well as Correctional through coursework on the main campus and at UUMKL.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed his confidence that with the cooperation, the support and commitment will continue to add value in promoting the country's higher education sector, thus helping the Government in its efforts of transforming the country.

He also expressed his hopes that the collaborative programme which spans a period of five years will continue in the future as the programme helps the staff improve their role and functions in contributing to the department more effectively.

"This collaborative programme between JKM and UUM is a mechanism which allows employees to get training from an accredited body to become a practitioner of Social Work.

"Even though the programme spans 10 days, I hope it will encourage the JKM staff to enrol into the course and obtain good results thus achieving prosperity in the future," he said.
