The voting process which began at 9.30 a.m. went on smoothly until 3.30 p.m. when the counting of vote process took centre stage. The full results were announced at 5 p.m.
A total of 12,624 out of 16,119 students cast their votes yesterday. In all, 78 percent of the students came out to perform their obligations as UUM campus community.
The Vice-Chancellor in his speech said that throughout the course of the student campaign process and the MPP voting process, no untoward incidences were reported.
According to him, this shows that the democracy and the learning process are very much alive and well received by students.
"Without the participation of candidates in the MPP election, the process of campus election which could educate students to study in depth the democracy process could not be carried out.
"I hope those who have been selected will be able to carry out their responsibilities and mandate with sincerity and together foster reputation and brilliance for UUM," he said.
Also present during the announcement of the UUM 2015/2016 MPP election were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek Abdul Karim, members of the University Management Committee, Deans of the various Schools, Principals of Student Residential Halls and university officials.
