Prof. Dr. Muhamad Ali Embi from the School of Government (SoG) and a PhD student (Public Management) from the Ghazali Shafie Graduate School of Government (GSGSG) secured the gold medal for the Project Innovation Competition and Poster Innovation Presentation for 'My Performance Appraisal Manager Application' (MyPA Manager Application).
Prof. Dr. Muhamad Ali said, MyPA Manager is an application that could assist the appraiser to record, analyse and display the work performance of the person being assessed.
"Three main features of MyPA Manager are I-Assessment, I-Performance and I-Report. I-Assessment is a platform for the appraiser to assess each aspect of the staff performance that needs to be evaluated. I-Performance provides the analysis of the end result based on the performance and I-Report presents the monthly and yearly assessment report based on the average monthly assessment in tabular form.
"This application helps to facilitate the assessment process by providing information on the person being assessed on a monthly basis. In doing so, errors could be reduced or eliminated when preparing the final evaluation result at the end of the year. This process helps to provide constructive feedback to the person being assessed," he said.
A total of nine (9) categories were contested at iCompEx'16 with 661 participants from various institutions including Universiti Malaya, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Perlis and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.
The PhD student, Mr. Low Kah Choon said, MyPA Manager helps to reduce paper consumption and also space, in addition to being more environmentally-friendly.
He added that, this innovation complements the existing Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) in the public sector and other Human Resource Information System (HRIS) in the private sector.
iCompEx was introduced in 2013 as a platform to showcase and bring forth the products of students’ projects and quality research products.
In 2014, iCompEx attracted the participation of 650 entries from various agencies including polytechnics, Community Colleges, Giat Mara, Industrial Training Institute (ILP), National Youth Skill Training Institute (IKBN), Public Institutions of Higher Education (IPTA), Private Institutions of Higher Education (IPTS), Government / Private Agencies and schools.
In 2015, iCompEx attracted a larger pool of participants and gained the recognition in the Malaysia Book of Records for Organising the Largest Participation in an Innovation and Invention Competition.
