The concert organised by the UUM School of Multimedia Technology and Communication (SMMTC) in collaboration with Rasamusic Sdn Bhd, aims to expand collaboration amongst academics, students and the industry.
According to the Dean of SMMTC Dr. Norsiah Abdul Hamid, the concert would also witness students of the Bachelor of Creative Industry Management (BCIM) Programme become fully engaged, working hand in hand with experienced professionals to produce a concert of high quality.
The journeys, experiences and philosophies of the two music legends which had paved the way for them to becoming successful role models to the younger generation would also be revisited and shared.
"In addition to being exposed to the stages of organising concerts, we want students to have direct contact with both of these icons and simultaneously apply what they have learned in class.
There will also be discourse sessions with Datuk M. Nasir and Datuk Ramli Sarip in the morning, where the two of them will share their knowledge with the students, "she said this at the Ramli Sarip and Nasir Concert press conference held yesterday afternoon.
The press conference was also attended by Datuk M. Nasir and Datuk Ramli Sarip as well as SMMTC lecturer cum Director of the concert, Mr. Mohd Idzwan Yacob.
Datuk M. Nasir said he saw the concert as more of a medium for him to share his experience with academic institutions.
"By organising this concert students not only learn theoretically, but will also learn the practical aspect of it as well. I am proud and thankful to be given the opportunity to be involved in this project," said the recipient of the UUM honorary doctorate in the field of Creative Industries.
Meanwhile, Datuk Ramli Sarip said the up-coming concert would offer audiences a tad of different flair from other rock concerts which they had attended before.
"We certainly want to share our experiences, both good and bad, insights, difficulties and challenges which we had to endure throughout our careers and life. It's not just a regular entertainment, but it's more of a way of life for us. Here we can reach out to students who want to know what they should possess and stay clear off in finding a career in arts and show business. The opportunity provided by UUM affords us with the space and platform to share our life experiences. This opportunity is timely and in the right direction and will indeed be memories most treasured, "he explained.
Concert Director, Mr. Mohd Idzwan Yacob said the concert promised experiences which could never be obtained in a lecture hall, but only through the stage.
The two-hour concert would also feature local musicians accompanying the presentation. Tickets are priced at RM20, RM60 and RM150 and those interested can contact 018-791 2529 (Shamsul) for more information.
