The SMMTC Week 2016 , an annually organised programme acts as the key platform for gathering and exhibiting works of students pursuing their studies in the current semester.
Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar who is also the adjunct professor urged UUM students who had chosen to pursue their studies in the field of Communication and Media to feel proud and work hard to succeed in their chosen field.
"You should all feel proud to have been chosen to be a student at this university, and proud of your choice. My being here together with friends who are highly experienced in the field of journalism is not just for launching this programme, but more of knowledge sharing and inspiring you to follow in the footsteps of successful leaders in this field, "he said.
Meanwhile, the Dean of SMMTC, Dr Norsiah Abdul Hamid said besides being a platform to gather and exhibit the works of students, the programme held was also in support of the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (PSPTN), which outlined a range of soft skills to be achieved by students.
"SMMTC Week 2016 also provides students with the opportunity to learn to run a large programme such as this one while strengthening the relationship between students, staff and the industry," she said when delivering her speech at the event.
Present during the launching of the SMMTC Week 2016 were Dr. Hizral Tazzif Hisham, academic and administrative staff and students of SMMTC as well as students from Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University, Bangkok, Thailand.
Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar also shared his knowledge with journalism students through the Adjunct Professorial Lecture session entitled "The Future of Journalism: Challenges and Opportunities," held in the same hall after the opening ceremony.
The Alumni Homecoming, 'Great Emcee 4ever' - 'Master of Ceremonies' Workshop, Short Film & Documentary Preview, Talk From the Industry - RTM / Astro / Harian Metro, Dean Awards Ceremony as well as exhibition and booth sales are among the activities which have been planned throughout the SMMTC Week 2016.
SMMTC Week 2016 will run from 15 to 19 May.
