An average of 150 UUM graduates involve in entrepreneurship after their graduation each year and UUM intends to increase the number to more than 300 graduates in the future.
Since its inception, UUM has taken proactive actions to implement high-impact entrepreneurship programmes for the students. In view of that, UUM launched Manager’s Coffee, a student entrepreneurship development project under the Co-operative and Entrepreneurship Development Institute (CEDI), recently. The Manager’s Coffee offers a range of coffee beverages and snacks as well as delicious signature Malaysian dishes at reasonable prices.
The launching ceremony of the Manager’s Coffee was officiated by Yang Berhormat the Higher Education Minister, Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh, after the launching ceremony of Discover UUM 2016, a programme which offers an educational tourism concept, enabling the university to generate its own income while also providing opportunities for its students to gain and develop entrepreneurship skills.
The Manager’s Coffee programme is a student franchise incubator programme and it is one of the university’s wealth creation strategies. In addition, the students are exposed to the intricacies of managing and running a cafe in a systematic and proven way that virtually ensured their success.
The Manager's Coffee also intends to get the franchisor status after three (3) years of operation and thus to franchise the business to UUM graduates who have been trained in this programme.
This project will also be developed globally, such as in Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Iraq, Netherlands and China.
Apart from that, through the Manager’s Coffee programme, UUM aims to build a strong brand in the franchise sector and is expected to attract more local and international students to study business franchise programme.
The Manager’s Coffee beverages and snacks as well as delicious signature Malaysian dishes are available at EDC Hotel & Residence, UUM.
