This is the fact acknowledged by the delegates who came to UUM for a campus tour in conjunction with the 6th ASEAN+3 Heads of International Relations Meeting. The meeting was held in Langkawi.
This is the first time UUM was given the honour to host the meeting which saw the participation of 98 delegates from 30 member universities of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) and 10 universities from the +3 countries (Korea, Japan and China).
The delegates were given a warm welcome by UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak. They were feted at a luncheon at EDC-Hotel & Residence.
The delegates visited several places of interest during the campus tour including the Welcome Centre, U-Assist, Cooperative and Entrepreneurship Development Institute (CEDI) and UUM National Golf Academy (UUMNGA).
A member of the delegation, Prof. Dr. Satoshi Kuwahara from Niigata University, Japan, said, in addition to having a beautiful campus, UUM staff members are extremely pleasant and friendly.
"UUM campus is very beautiful and remarkable. Welcome Centre is also an interesting place that gives useful information about UUM in general. Thank you for such warm and great hospitality!
Innovative and ground-breaking centres such as the Welcome Centre and U-Assist as well as the programmes offered at UUMNGA and CEDI have certainly caught the attention of the delegates.
Prof. Dr. Mongkol Techakumphu from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand said, he was impressed with the facilities and programmes available for UUM students.
"UUM students are certainly fortunate because they get to study at a beautiful campus and they can also participate in various activities including horseback riding, golfing and go-karting. U-Assist is certainly a convenient one-stop centre as it assists students in their day-to-day activities and I am also impressed with the extensive wireless internet network in the campus,” added Prof. Dr. Mongkol.
Assoc. Prof. Yang Wei, the Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Office of Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs from the Yunnan University, China said that he feels excited to visit the green UUM campus and he described the campus as peaceful and pleasant.
