UUM ONLINE: The six-day Culture, Arts and Entrepreneurship Carnival (3K) of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), which was held for the eighth time managed to attract more entrepreneurs and helped them to generate more income.
According to Director of Student Affairs Department, Mr. Mohd Dino Khairri Sharifuddin, he said that the 3K Carnival set as starting point for students to engage in cultural activities, arts and entrepreneurship.
"The students’ involvement in this 3K Carnival is actually to educate and guide them in particular areas of cultural activities, arts and entrepreneurship.
Students are encouraged to make full use of existing opportunities to explore related business field in future. The bright future as successful entrepreneurs can only be achieved through hard work and continuous efforts," he said this during the closing ceremony of the carnival.
Raja Muhammad Tarmizi Raja Ibrahim, 23, a final year student of Business Management programme at UUM saw the 3K Carnival as a platform to gain more customers by selling ‘chicken popcorn’, one of Al-Ain’s frozen products.
"We started our business by selling the Al-Ain’s fried chicken at the YAB student residential hall. Besides, we also sell various Al-Ain’s products in several entrepreneurship programmes organised by UUM. We manage to promote Al-Ain’s products and never thought that our poultry products receive a warm welcome from the UUM campus community," he said.
The event was also graced with performances by Gemalasari Zapin dance troupe; Masha, the winner of Ceria Popstar singing competition and a Wushu demonstration.
Among the awards presented at the event were Citra Budaya Sumbangsih Award, Citra Budaya Nasyid Award and Citra Budaya Estetika Award.
Also present were Director of UUM Culture and Arts Centre, Mr. Huzaidy Hussain; President of UUM Alumni, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Amy Azhar Mohd. Harif; senior University officials and UUM campus community.
