UUM ONLINE: Dato' Siti Nurhaliza, one of Malaysia’s most iconic popstar and also an entrepreneur with her own line of beauty products called SimplySiti shared her business experiences with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) denizens at Mu'adzam Shah Hall recently.
A Biz Talk entitled Business Evolution: Dreams and Reality was organised in conjunction with Malam Setulus Amal by Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA). This event is part of the one-week TISSA-UUM Carnival. Malam Setulus Amal TISSA-UUM was hosted as a fundraising event for TISSA-UUM Student Development Fund.
A student from TISSA-UUM, Tengku Nurnadiah Tengku Nasaruddin also took part in the Biz Talk. A lecturer, Mr. Mohd Idzwan Yacob from the School of Multimedia Technology and Communication (SMMTC) acted as the compère for the session.
Dato' Siti, accompanied by her beloved husband Dato’ Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa narrated her involvement in business since she was a young child. She also disclosed the push factor that drove her to venture into cosmetic business in 2010. This began when she was appointed as the ambassador for internationally renowned beauty products.
She also advised UUM students to use the opportunity to start something that will bring benefits to the students and she also urged the students to start their business in areas that are related to their studies.
Dato' Siti continued to mesmerise the audience with the rendition of fetching songs including Seindah Biasa, Kenangan Terindah, Jaga Dia Untukku, Widuri and Lebih Indah.
The audience was also entertained by performances from the Co-curriculum Centre UUM accompanied by the Combo Band, Co-curriculum Centre UUM.
Dato‘ Siti also handed over the proceeds from Malam Setulus Amal to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak. The proceeds are donated to the TISSA-UUM Student Development Fund.
Also present at the event were a member of Kedah State Executive Council (EXCO), YB Dato' Hj. Mohd Rawi Abd. Hamid; Dean of TISSA-UUM, Prof. Dr. Kamil Md Idris and university officials.
