UUM ONLINE: The four-day TISSA-UUM Carnival held in conjunction with the rebranding ceremony of the School of Accounting (SoA) to the Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA) closed its curtain with a grand dinner reception, recently.
The dinner was attended by former SoA graduates, former SoA lecturers and TISSA members of staff at Mu'adzam Shah Hall.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Norhayati Nazri.
Meanwhile, in his message, Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa said the dinner reception served as a platform to introduce and promote TISSA not only in Sintok but also around world.
According to him, there was a need for TISSA to organise high-impact programmes or activities in a synergistic manner including at a higher level such as in the Southeast Asia, as the world is moving at a rapid and competitive pace, in addition to a strong need to find for funds.
"The proclamation ceremony of TISSA is historic as it provides an impetus to chart the future of the university’s school of accountancy to greater heights.
"Hence, we should get out from our comfort zone, improvements are significant and faculty members are urged to increase their capacities," he said.
He further elucidated that in view of the significance of TISSA; the school must place greater emphasis on management etiquette amongst the graduates including integrity in accordance with the accounting profession standards, and become the cream of the crop of the country’s accounting personalities that are much sought after by the potential employers.
At the same time, he also expressed his hope that the alumni can introduce UUM to the world; provide consistent, high-quality and appropriate advice for quality education and excellence to remain competitive and resilient.
"Apart from that, TISSA-UUM is trying to get recognition from EPAS (European Program Accreditation System) accreditation after successfully secured a position in the Top 200 in QS World Ranking by Subject for Accountancy and Finance last year," he said.
Throughout the dinner, the honoured guests were entertained to performances from Iqbal and the UUM Culture and Arts Centre (PBS).
Also present at the dinner were Dean of TISSA-UUM, Prof Dr Kamil Md Idris; Director of Students Affairs Department, Dr Mohd Dino Khairri Shariffuddin and UUM officials.
