UUM ONLINE: Putrajaya - The Political, Security and International Studies Cluster, National Council of Professors (NCP), in collaboration with the Research Division of the Prime Minister’s Department, organised a Roundtable Discussion (RTD), Series 1/2017, entitled "The Trump Administration: Issues and Challenges To Malaysia," at the NCP Executive Meeting Room, recently.
The RTD analysed and discussed the policies of the 45th President of the United States of America (US), Donald Trump, in terms of their impact on diplomacy, security, and political economy in the Southeast Asian region, particularly with regard to Malaysia.
The RTD also touched on the current relations of the US with the Middle East, China, and Southeast Asia. Further, the savants attempted to envision how the outcome of the general elections in France, to be held in May, might impinge upon the European Union as an entity, and upon the stability of the region, as a whole.
Apart from this, the discussion also dwelled upon the direction of Malaysia's foreign policy vis-à-vis the policies of the Trump administration, which are seen to be ever-changing.
Among those who participated in the RTD were the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, as Head of the Political, Security and International Studies Cluster, NCP; Chief Executive Officer, NCP, Prof Datuk Dr Raduan Che Rose; Deputy Director-General, JPM, Dato’ Rani Ismail Hadi Ali, and Prof. Dr. Kamarulnizam Abdullah, committee member of the Political, Security and International Studies Cluster, NCP, who was the Chairman of the RTD.
