UUM ONLINE: Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
To all Muslims of the campus community, blessed by Allah, the Most Glorified,
On the 27th day of the month of Rejab, Muslims across the world will commemorate the event of Israk and Mikraj. According to religious scholars, this event was the most exquisite of gifts from Allah, the Most Glorified, who wished to restore joy and happiness to His beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), after he had suffered a series of sorrowful events, among which were the demise of Saidatina Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) and his uncle Abu Talib.
Israk and Mikraj, the two parts of a historic night journey, together constitute a miracle of divine proportions that serve as proof of the infinite power of Allah, the Most Glorified. This episode, which transcends far beyond the pale of mere human understanding, is replete with a myriad lessons and instructions to those of faith. Apart from this, this event is a blessing conferred to strengthen the religious faith in the hearts of His servants who acknowledge that the Prophet (peace be upon him) is the true Prophet and that Allah, the Most Glorified, is the one true God worthy of worship, as well as sow unwavering faith in the magnificence and supreme power of Allah, the Most Glorified, as the Creator.
“Allah, the Most Holy, took His servant by night from Al-Masjidil Haram to Al-Masjidil Aqsa, the surroundings of which We have blessed, in order to show him some of Our signs. Indeed, He is the All-hearing, the All-seeing." (Surah Al-Israa': Verse 1)
All Muslim members of the campus community should imbibe the lessons embedded in the event and appreciate the importance of the event in the conduct of our life as His servants on earth. We should be accepting of the joys and sorrows and the ebb and flow in life, be it in the family, at work, or in the community. We should also, as servants of God, believe that every trial and tribulation that we undergo rewards us with the wisdom it enfolds, and never despair of ever receiving His divine mercy.
Let us strive to be consistent in performing good deeds in our daily lives. May our journey through life be always in the embrace of His blessings.
My sincere best wishes for a happy, peaceful, and blessed Israk and Mikraj 1438H.
