UUM ONLINE: Penang - The Vice-Chancellor of UUM, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, has been reappointed as Member of the Asia-Pacific University-Community Engagement Network (APUCEN) Council for a period of three years, that is, from 2017 to 2020.
The appointment was made during the two-day APUCEN Summit 2017, which ran from 20 to 21 April 2017 at the Jen Hotel.
Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS), Japan, was also re-elected as the Deputy President of APUCEN under the aegis of the Permanent President of APUCEN i.e. Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), under the leadership of Prof. Dato' Dr. Asma Ismail.
Meanwhile, at the APUCEN summit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norashidah Jaafar and Dr. Azizah Ahmad, from the Northern Corridor Research Centre (NCRC), UUM, presented a project paper entitled 'Smart Women Ville - Women Moving Millions', besides participating in a Community Engagement poster project.
Among the items on the agenda of the meeting were the introduction of the new council members and the welcoming address by the President of APUCEN, which centred on a proposal for a large-scale and high-impact community engagement project, as well as encouragement to members of the council to participate in the upcoming University-Community Engagement Conference (UCEC) 2017 in Kyoto, Japan, in September 2017.
