UUM ONLINE: Selangor, July 6 – The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has formally sealed the intent of both universities to offer double degree programmes for the upcoming session of new admissions.
The Vice-Chancellor of UUM, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, and the Vice-Chancellor of UiTM, Professor Emeritus Dato' Dr. Hassan Said, signed the MoU document at the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Chancellery Building, UiTM Shah Alam, yesterday.
This synergistic collaboration, initiated through the School of Applied Psychology, Social Work and Policy (SAPSP), UUM, and the Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS), UiTM, will encompass not only double degree programmes, but also student and lecturer mobility programmes, joint seminars, and joint research and publication activities.
The Vice-Chancellor of UUM stated that the offer of double degree programmes for the Bachelor of Counselling (UUM) and the Bachelor of Muamalat (UiTM) programmes would begin in the forthcoming session of new admissions this September.
He added that he was confident the collaborative effort of UUM and UiTM would amaze many with the strengths of both universities fully evident in the fruits of their labour.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of UiTM said that the academic collaboration between UiTM and UUM had broken new ground and, thus, had opened a new chapter in the history of Malaysian institutions of higher education.
He added that the mobility programme between local universities was strongly encouraged as it demonstrated the capabilities of the universities and inspired earnest efforts towards ensuring the success of smart alliances in Malaysia.
"I hope that many more collaborative ventures such as this will be undertaken by our two universities and that these efforts will indirectly provide invaluable experience to our students.
“Furthermore, there’s high expectation that the signing of this MoU will be the starting point for future collaborative ventures," said the Vice-Chancellor of UiTM.
