UUM Seals Collaborative Pact With The University Of Sarajevo (UNSA), Bosnia-Herzegovina

UUM ONLINE: Bosnia-Herzegovina – In efforts to bolster its internationalisation and rankings agenda, UUM has entered into a collaborative venture with the University of Sarajevo (UNSA) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the said university.

At the signing ceremony, held on 17 May 2017, UUM was represented by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, while UNSA was represented by its Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Skrijelj.

The ceremony was also witnessed by the Malaysian Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina, His Excellency Datuk Anuar Kasman; the Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM COB, Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim, who is also the Dean of the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB); and Prof. Dr. Kemal Kozaric, the Dean of the School of Economics and Business (SEBS), UNSA.

UNSA, the largest and oldest university in Bosnia Herzegovina, obtained the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation in 2015, thus, placing it on par with UUM in terms of business education. This newly forged partnership will enable both UUM and UNSA to strengthen and sustain the quality and integrity of higher education as prescribed by the accreditation body and, by so doing, successfully retain their prestigious AACSB accreditation.

This mutually gainful partnership will see various activities that will be beneficial to students and academic staff members, in particular, and the universities, in general. Among these will be study and training programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, collaboration in research projects, student mobility programmes, industrial training, exchange of faculty members, and other special projects agreed upon by both parties.

One of the undertakings agreed upon in the terms of the collaborative pact was the joint organisation of the 5th International Conference on Banking and Finance, which was duly held from 17 to 19 July 2017 in Sarajevo.
