UUM ONLINE: 21 August - A total of 1,257 Undergraduate Volunteer Police (SUKSIS) Corps trainees were commissioned during the 13th Passing-out Parade Ceremony and Presentation of Appointment Certificates to Public University SUKSIS Corps Officers, at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) yesterday.
The commissioning ceremony was officiated by The Honourable Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim, at Mu'adzam Shah Hall.
The ceremony commenced with the Passing-out Parade and the Inspection of the Guard of Honour by Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Noor Rashid, who was accompanied by the Commandant of the UUM SUKSIS Corps and the Guard Commander, at the ROTU Parade Ground. Following this, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim presented awards to the Overall Best Trainees from Public Universities.
Delivering the speech on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Noor Rashid stated that the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) had always supported the establishment of the SUKSIS Corps at public universities, as this was in keeping with the objective of producing outstanding graduates with leadership qualities who were disciplined and well informed in the field of policing and the law.
"As part of a generation that is knowledgeable and keeps abreast of the progress in information technology, it is hoped that the SUKSIS Corps will collaborate with the RMP with regard to crime prevention and also join forces with the RMP to ensure the success of our latest initiative to strengthen our service to the community, through a smartphone application called the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP), which is a platform for the public to channel information or online complaints to get immediate assistance from the police," said Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Noor Rashid.
The ceremony resumed later at the Mu'adzam Shah Hall with the presentation of the Best Academic Trainer and Best External Trainer Awards, as well as the Presentation of the Appointment Certificates to SUKSIS Corps Officers by Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Noor Rashid.
Overall, the event saw the involvement of 1,257 students, 100 honorary officers of the SUKSIS Corps, representing 20 contingents from public universities including 5 branches of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), and 200 officers from the RMP.
Also present at the ceremony were The Honourable Chief Commissioner of Police, Dato' Asri Yusoff; the Kedah Police Chief; Police Chiefs of the different states; Prof. Dr. Noor Azizi Ismail, the Deputy Director-General of Higher Education Malaysia (TKPPTM); Public University SUKSIS Corps Commandants; Senior UUM Officers, and Senior Officers of the RMP.
