UUM ONLINE: Innovation, creativity, human quality and education, together, constitute the secret to the success of achieving progress in the 21st century.
"Even though the performance of Asian countries has been phenomenal, there is still a long road ahead, and to advance at a quicker pace, we need to acquire new knowledge through extensive reading and attempt anew, apart from gainfully utilising existing knowledge and information technology," said the founder of Universitas Bakrie, Bapak Ir. H. Aburizal Bakrie, or Pak Ical, who gave a dose of inspiration to the members of the UUM campus community when presenting a Public Lecture entitled Malaysia-Indonesia Relations: Building Synergy through Business, Education and Human Resources, at EDC Hotels & Resorts.
He explained that the collaboration between UUM and Universitas Bakrie was indeed a very strategic and beneficial one in terms of the efforts invested in improving the system and the quality of education, as well as human resources, at both the universities.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of UUM, Prof. Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, said that, as a prominent entrepreneur who had once held a high-ranking position in the Republic, Pak Ical was on a mission to help strengthen bilateral diplomatic ties through Track II diplomacy, that is, developing ‘people to people’ relations through ‘non-state actors’, which is seen as the best method of resolving potential conflicts.
"This public lecture has high impact not only in terms of the context of the relations between Malaysia and Indonesia as kindred nations, but also in terms of UUM as an institution of higher learning with the vision of becoming an Eminent Management University," said the Vice-Chancellor.
