Minister Of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives And Consumerism Shares Entrepreneurship Pointers With UUM Students

UUM ONLINE: "The first thing that entrepreneurs should do before starting their business is to get an in-depth information about the business they wish to operate," said the Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK), Dato' Seri Hamzah Zainudin at the Millennials Mindset Mapping Programme with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) students at Mu'adzam Shah Hall.

"Successful businesses are businesses that have never been explored by other people. Look at how Apple started with something that no one has ever thought. Millennials should invent new products that would bring benefits to all and aim for the global markets," said Dato' Seri Hamzah.

There are many agencies under the auspices of KPDNKK, which can help entrepreneurs to start their businesses, for instance the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Bank Rakyat, the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (SKM) and the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO)."

"That's why I started this session by emphasising on the importance of getting information, identifying businesses that you wish to operate, identifying the target markets, knowing the channels that can be employed to start your business and the trade law in our country," he added.

Meanwhile, UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said, the Millennials Mindset Mapping Programme offers the opportunities for students to interact directly with the officers from KPDNKK, and this is part of the efforts to encourage the younger generation especially the students to become entrepreneurs.

This programme was jointly organised by the KPDNKK, the Co-operative and Entrepreneurship Development Institute (CEDI) and Fizo Omar Channel (FOC).
