UUM ONLINE: Kuala Lumpur - In order to strengthen governance within the university, the Ministry of Higher Education conducted the Board Effectiveness Assessment (BEA) for Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), University Board of Directors (LPU) at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) recently.
The implementation of the BEA was held at the LPU Meeting chaired by Tan Sri Siti Sa'diah Sheikh Bakir which was also attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak as well as the other members of the LPU.
Tan Sri Siti Sa'diah said that the BEA programme which was conducted to evaluate the UUM LPU meeting was carried out by six assessors representing the Ministry of Higher Education.
BEA is an initiative by the Ministry of Higher Education to evaluate the effectiveness of the University Board of Directors (LPU) in administering university affairs, a practice conducted at all public universities since 2015.
He also congratulated the Vice-Chancellor and the denizens of UUM for successfully consolidating its position in the Asian region when it was ranked at the 131th position in the recently announced QS Asia University rankings (QS Asia) 2018.
He said the new position would indeed place UUM amongst the 1 percent of the best universities in Asia from a total of 11,900 universities.
