UUM ONLINE: 28 October - To practice the usage of the English in a fun environment, UUM and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) organized a two-day MOHE (ELCA) English Language Carnival starting today at the Mu'adzam Shah Hall.
MOHE ELCA provided exposure and opportunities to fellow participants to gain exposure and improve their English proficiency by engaging them as participants in meaningful learning beyond the classroom.
The 'Have Fun In English' carnival was officiated by Deputy Higher Education Minister, Dato' Dr. Mary Yap Kain Ching, this morning.
In her speech she said that MOHE ELCA was the highlight of English activities targeted to meet the needs of the Malaysia English Assessment (MEA) comprising informal assessments (MEA 2).
According to her, MEA was an effort made by the Ministry of Higher Education towards enhancing the Ecosystem of English Language Learning and Assessment at Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL).
"Throughout this carnival, participants comprising university students from across the country will be placed in groups randomly and not according to their respective IHLs.
"Amongst the highlights of this maiden carnival is the interactive exhibition where innovative and up-to-date language learning materials are used in symbolic English programmes," she said.
The Honourable Dato' Dr. Mary Yap also launched the UUM Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) and visited the various exhibition booths.
