UUM ONLINE: The Registrar, Dato' Mohamad Akhir Hj Yusuf ended his service at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) on Thursday (9 November) after 33 years of working in UUM.
In this regard, a Hand-Over of Notes and Farewell Ceremony was held in his honour at EDC Hotels & Resorts.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said that Dato' Mohamad Akhir was among the first member of staff who joined UUM at its Tanah Merah campus, in Jitra.
"During his 33 years of service, he held various senior positions including Directors at several major Departments in UUM; setting up of the University Press in 1985 and contributing to the development of the sports of golf at UUM where he was involved in the establishment of the UUM Golf Club in 1987.
"In addition, as a pioneer who was involved in the administration of the University, he also contributed his dedication and services especially in revising and improving the Department of Human Resources (Registrar) which will enable the university's human resource management system become better and systematic.
"Hopefully, Dato' Mohamad Akhir will continue to contribute his experiences and ideas with University's management team to help the University overcome challenges and obstacles in order to be recognized as being amongst the top management universities internationally even though he no longer serves UUM," he said.
At the function, Mr. Baharudin Yaacob received the hand over note from Dato’ Mohamad Akhir and was presented with his letter of appointment as the Acting Registrar from the Vice- Chancellor.
