UUM Advances From The ISO 9001:2008 To The ISO 9001:2015 Certification

UUM ONLINE: 21 December - UUM has successfully obtained the ISO 9001: 2015 certification after none Non-Conformance Report (NCR) was recorded in the MS ISO 9001: 2015 Monitoring and Upgrading Audit process conducted by SIRIM QAS International Sdn. Bhd. (SIRIM QAS) which ended yesterday.

The three-day audit which commenced on 18 December was conducted by a three-member team, led by Hanida Ghazali along with Asiyah Haron and Mary Ngu. Several Centres of Authority and Schools were involved in the audit process.

The members of the audit team visited the Quality Management Institute (IPQ), Research and Innovation Management Centre (RIMC), UUM Press, Sultanah Bahiyah Library, Welcome Centre, the School of Computing (SOC) and Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA-UUM).

The closing audit meeting was held at the Senate Meeting Room and it was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of UUM, Prof. Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, yesterday.

Prof. Dato’ Seri Vice-Chancellor said, based on our previous audit experience, UUM has always worked towards improving and ensuring the achievement of the benchmark set by the auditing body.

"In addition to this certification, UUM has also received various recognitions from several local agencies including the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA), the Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education Institutions (SETARA) and the Malaysian Research Assessment Instrument (MyRA). UUM is also listed in the QS and Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings on the international front.

"I would like to extend my utmost congratulations and gratitude to all those involved in this audit exercise," said Prof. Dato’ Seri.

Meanwhile, SIRIM QAS representative, Hanida Ghazali said, the ISO 9001: 2015 certification is valid until 2019. She further added that SIRIM QAS has agreed to upgrade the ISO 9001: 2008 certification to ISO 9001: 2015 after none NCR was recorded.

UUM received the first ISO 9001: 2008 certification in 2010 and this was followed by the second certification in 2013 and UUM is now ready to advance to ISO 9001: 2015.
