UUM And Alibaba Make The Most Of Knowledge Sharing And Capitalisation Of Experience

UUM ONLINE: UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak received a courtesy visit from Mr. Brian Wong, the Vice-President of Alibaba Group Limited. His visit was organised in conjunction with the six-day Training of Trainers Global E-Commerce Talent (GET) programme held at the EDC Hotels & Resorts, UUM.

Prof. Dato’ Seri welcomed members of the delegation from the Alibaba Group China at the Visitors’ Lounge. The delegation then proceeded to the Seri Delima Room for a luncheon.

Speaking at the event, Dato’ Seri Vice-Chancellor said, besides having entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alibaba Business School, UUM was appointed to host the first Training of Trainers Global E-Commerce Talent (GET) programme. This programme is a joint effort with the Alibaba Group.

Prof. Dato’ Seri added that, in order to become an Eminent Management University in Malaysia, UUM community can gain considerable knowledge and experiences from Alibaba, which has carved out a niche and created a worldwide e-Commerce empire.

"I hope that more collaborative activities could be arranged by UUM and Alibaba, and hopefully OYAGSB can identify constructive undertakings with Alibaba Business School," said Prof. Dato’ Seri.

Meanwhile, Mr. Brian Wong explained that the Training of Trainers Global E-Commerce Talent (GET) programme was Alibaba's first project with universities in Malaysia and UUM has been selected as the host of the programme.

He said, this milestone project was the outcome ensuing a discussion between the Prime Minister of Malaysia and Alibaba Founder, Jack Ma. This was then followed by the signing of the MoU between UUM and Alibaba Group.

He stated that, GET is a programme that trains young talents in e-Commerce through knowledge and experience sharing on the digital economy that will be the future of the world.

He expressed his hope that UUM and Alibaba would make full use of the bilateral cooperation and continue to work closely and diligently to foster the ties between both parties.
