UUM ONLINE:22 January - Members of the UUM Academic Staff Association (PERSATU) were advised to work hand in hand with the management of the University to help make UUM become the Eminent Management University.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said, to realize UUM's aspiration of becoming the eminent management University, academics comprising lecturers and academicians must become ' known ' through their work namely researches and publications.
According to him, the university was well on its way working to increase the number of publications and researches by setting up the SCoE from the previous year so that all lecturers or researchers could transform the SCoE into a working hub as a synergy and work together, eventually the SCoE would highlight the university’s excellence with publication and research results.
"In the academic field, there are three important things to be emphasized namely synergy, collaboration and networking with synergies, academics can know how to make the most of the field they have chosen with the other fields, and to collaborate with others and ultimately build networks or networking to grow even farther.
"Hence, PERSATU will serve as a platform for all members to make the most of the academic world, especially in increasing the number of citations and translational researches in particular in order to be focussed, be more valuable and relevant," he said at the Closing Ceremony of the UUM Academic Staff Association Annual General Meeting at the Convention Centre, this morning.
He further added that Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were also very important to improve the ranking of the University; hence the University prioritized the content of the MoUs that involved matching grants, collaborative researches, and appointment of visiting lecturers from UUM and also from universities overseas and joint degrees which would propel the University to become the Eminent Management University.
He called on PERSATU to mobilize its members to develop the reputation of the University not only in the field of research and publication, but also in the number of MoUs sealed in order for the University to further expand and highlight its excellence.
At the first AGM of the 2018/2020 session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halim Mad Lazim was elected as the new President of PERSATU replacing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rusdi Omar.
