UUM ONLINE: Muhammad Wafiyuddin Abdul Manaf put on his best performance and emerged as the best Malaysian golfer at the PGM Darulaman 2018 (ADT) 2018 Championship, held at Darulaman Golf & Country Club, Jitra, Kedah.
Despite the poor start of the first day of the second round of the PGM tournament this year, Wafi played-off with 3 on par 75 but that did not break Wafi's spirit to continue doing his best when playing against professional golfers from various countries including the United States, Japan , France, Sweden and Thailand.
Ready and prepared to demonstrate his mettle, Wafi shot an impressive two-under par 70 and he continued to deliver stiff competition to the leading player of the tournament, Kurt Kitayama from the United States, who recorded the same score.
His consistent performance led Wafi to continue his battle on the third day of the tournament when he managed to record par 72.
The last day of the tournament saw Wafi's shooting an eight-under-par 64, earning 281 strokes, thus emerging as Malaysia's best golfer, finishing at the 7th position of 123 golfers.
Commenting on his achievement at the tournament, Wafi expressed his gratitude and thanks to everyone, especially to the Vice-Chancellor and the university top management team.
"I hope this brilliant start in 2018 will continue and I will continue to work harder to achieve greater success," said Wafi.
Wafiyuddin also hopes to maintain the excellent momentum and perform better at the Maybank Championship Championship which commences on 1 till 4 February 2018 at the Saujana Golf & Country Club.
