Meanwhile, a student from the Bachelor of Social Work Management programme, Ms. Nur Shuaida Shakri, 23, admitted that she had long been interested in this field and wanted to learn more about the life of military personnel.
"People always say that military personnel are tough, boisterous, and brave, I wanted to get first-hand experience of a soldier's life, not just that, the activities we had to go through enabled us to become more disciplined and immaculate.
During this training exercise, the sweet girl from Melaka who was entrusted with the responsibility of the event manager led the opening and closing ceremonies and was also committed to carrying out duties with utmost dedication.
"In ROTU, we have to move fast accompanied by packed schedule so I have learnt to manage time well in everyday life; I have become accustomed to doing something in a planned state.
"ROTU also teaches the spirit of loyalty and diligence, we are taught to do work as a group so as a squad, we help each other in managing things," she further added.
She also reiterated that the camp was conceptually a contest for the students to really work and apply what they had done in training while nurturing leadership qualities.
Additionally, she said this annually held training camp was able to build good relations amongst students once they graduate especially when these students from various universities combine and form a platoon.
"One platoon will work together in the forest phase so they can get acquainted and expand their social networks as networking is very important to facilitate future affairs," she said.
