UUM ONLINE: 11 February - The last day of the National Higher Education Carnival 2018 (KPTN) Kedah State level which went on for two days at the UUM's ROTU Parade Ground, continued to be filled with visitors comprising secondary school students including Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) school leavers from around the country as early as 9 am.
Fifth former from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tunku Putra, Baling, Ms. Nurul Saidatul Natrah Abdul Kadir said she was happy to be able to attend the carnival with her fellow schoolmate as she was able to learn more about opportunities and offers to pursue higher education in accordance to her interest and capabilites.
According to her, besides gaining exposure to the options available at public universities, various interesting activities were also provided to visitors with gift offerings.
"Here, I received a lot of information on how I can continue my studies after SPM and the facilities provided to students like education loans.
"I am more interested in the field of business studies and in this carnival I have found UUM, USM and UTM are among the universities of my selection and I hope to step into one of these universities," she said.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nuarriza Mat Isa from SMK Kuala Ketil, Baling said the carnival gave her deeper exposure to her course of entry into the university.
Ms. Nuarriza Mat Isa who was interested in art namely drawing, graphics and landscape, was not hesitant to choose UiTM as the institution of higher learning of her choice after sitting for her STPM later this year.
Mr. Muhamad Nasrul Idham Nazri who was also from SMK Kuala Ketil also attributed the ongoing KPTN as a venue which provided exposure and new knowledge to him, not only in terms of the selection of universities to pursue studies, but also opportunities to obtain educational loans and learn more of the achievements of each university involved in the carnival and MoHE itself.
"I hope this kind of carnival will continue from time to time as all students will benefit from this event for the sake of their future," said the Form Six student.
Applications for entry into 20 public universities, polytechnics, community colleges and public skills training institutes through the UPUOnline System had been opened since 5 February and would be closed on 10 April.
