UUM ONLINE: 14 February - Centre for Testing, Measurement and Appraisal (CeTMA) lent a helping hand to the needy as it launched its CeTMA-Kindness Kitchen programme at the Foyer of the Sultanah Bahiyah Library, Universiti Utara Malaysia this morning.
Director of CeTMA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Idayu Mahat said the programme was a strategic partnership with Kindness Malaysia Kedah / Perlis Branch that was aimed at conducting social innovation activities involving the community surrounding UUM.
According to her, the main objective of providing assistance to those in need via the free market concept and the implementation of the programme provided the testament of CeTMA's commitment to channelling and providing assistance to the needy.
"The organization of this programme is one of the means of providing the clean-up workers of Uniutama Property Management Sdn. Bhd. (UPSB) who have shown immense dedication working at UUM with everyday necessities," she said when launching the "CeTMA-Kindness Kitchen" Programme 2018.
According to her, such activity which was held for the first time by CeTMA's in partnership with Kindness Malaysia would be the starting point for many more social innovation programmes that would be organized in collaboration with CeTMA and Kindness Malaysia in the future.
"We are indeed very fortunate to be able to implement a social innovation programme such as this one today and hopefully all the aid provided will reduce the burden of the recipients.
"Through a programme such as this, participants can choose and collect free items such as rice and food," said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Idayu Mahat, who also contributed to the cause.
She also thanked the Coordinator of Kindness Malaysia Kedah / Perlis Branch, Mdm. Nurul Huda Zakaria who made the social innovation programme a success. Hopefully this programme and collaboration would continue in the future.
In the meantime, volunteers distributed food and helped out at the free market which gave the cleaners of UPSB the opportunity to choose clothes and necessities offered for free.
Earlier, CeTMA launched the '1 staff, 1 sack of rice' campaign which successfully collected more donations than the target.
