UUM ONLINE: 6 March - With the intention of improving the teaching competency of Polytechnic and Community College lecturers, specifically in the logistics and transportation areas, UUM and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) organised a four-month Professional Qualification Examination (PQE), Advanced Diploma Programme which commenced in October 2017.
A total of 20 Polytechnic and Community College lecturers were honoured in the Closing and Appreciation Ceremony of the PQE Advanced Diploma Programme for Higher Education Officers at the EDC Hotels and Resorts, today.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim, who represented Dato’ Seri Vice-Chancellor said, the four-month programme was held to train the lecturers at the polytechnics and community colleges to teach the students at the diploma and certificate levels in logistics and transportation areas.
"As we stand on the brink of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), we are mindful that the logistics and transportation sectors play an increasingly crucial role in accelerating and shaping the country’s economic growth.
"With an aim to contribute significantly in support of the national agenda, the introduction of the Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) Advanced Diploma for Higher Education Officers was a clear indication of the importance of creating employment and business opportunities to meet the country’s social and economic development agenda," said Prof. Yusnidah.
She also expressed her hope that the PQE Advanced Diploma for Higher Education Officers will be offered again and UUM will do the utmost to educate generations that will lead the country in the near future.
Meanwhile, the President of CILT Malaysia, Dato' Abd Radzak Abd Malek said, thus far, CILT has collaborated with 22 public and private institutions of higher education since the last five years and the efforts taken by the Polytechnics and Community Colleges to develop the logistics and transportation industry are certainly laudable.
"This effort also demonstrated the zealous determinations by the Polytechnics and Community Colleges to enhance their graduate employability chances.
"This PQE programme allowed the lecturers to improve the quality of the teaching and learning, especially in professional courses in logistics and transportation," said Dato' Abd Radzak.
