UUM ONLINE: Four Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) golfers will represent the country at the 17th World University Golf Championship (WUC) at Pradera Verde, Lubao Pampanga, Philippines starting on 16 to 19 May 2018.
Those players are Muhammad Afif Muhammad Razif, Sazanur Iman Salenin, Nurul Syahirah Afiqah Saparudin and Tham Soot Yuet, meanwhile another two players - Muhammad Zafran Abdullah is from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Nur Eliana Ariffin is from Melaka International College of Science and Technology (MiCoST).
The biennial Tournament will see 20 countries competing for the world title and Malaysia has selected the six best-performing players throughout the year.
Following the selection of the four UUM golf players, a symbolic flag-handover ceremony was held yesterday by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek Abdul Karim.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek said, everyone has a fair go at the WUC 2018, so do the best because the selected players bearing the national flag and upholding the name of the country will also indirectly promote the name of the university at the international arena.
"My sincere wish to all of you and may you attain great success at the WUC 2018, InsyaAllah," added the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni).
Accompanying the players to the WUC is the Team Manager, Associate Professor Dr. Azman Yasin, Aiza Irmalinda Ariffin and Wan Rosni Wan Cik (golf instructors).
