UUM ONLINE: 3 June - A total of 27 academic and administrative staff of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) received their letters of promotion to the various positions namely Associate Professor (DS54), Senior Lecturer (DS52) and Administrative Officer (N54) respectively at the Seri Delima Room this morning.
The ceremony which marks the presentation of Letters of Promotion was officiated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak.
The Vice-Chancellor said the promotion was recognition given to members of staff who had contributed immensely to the university either in academic or administrative fields.
"This promotion acts as a morale booster for staff to work harder to further enhance the university’s standing in the world, as such members of staff who have been promoted need to improve the quality of their work and change their mindset.
"As for the academics, we have to place benchmarks with the world's best universities and not just within this campus or with campuses in Malaysia alone.
"Likewise with regard to the administrators, this promotion should be accompanied by increased professionalism to enhance the efficiency of managing and administering the university," he said at the event.
The Presentation of Letters of Promotion Ceremony witnessed 20 academic staff promoted to the position of Associate Professor (DS54), five academic staff promoted to Senior Lecturer (DS52) and two administrative staff received their promotion to the N54 grade.
Meanwhile at the same event, the Vice- Chancellor also launched the 1439H UUM Zakat Fitrah Collection (Islamic tithe).
