UUM ONLINE: The air of merriment prevailed at the Aidilfitri Silaturahim Gathering as UUM denizens and the members of the nearby community came in droves to join in the celebration in a joyful atmosphere, filled with festive cheer, forgiveness and togetherness. The Aidilfitri Gathering was hosted at the Foyer of the Sultanah Bahiyah Library.
The Chairperson of the University Board of Directors, Tan Sri Siti Sa’diah Sheikh Bakir stated that, Syawal brings the pinnacle of happiness for every person who successfully adhered to the tarbiyah of Ramadan and embrace the spirit of returning to nature when ushering in the month of Syawal.
"This Aidilfitri gathering is a tradition that is celebrated every year by UUM community and this long-held tradition promotes good relations and offers the opportunity to meet up with our friends and colleagues.
"Given that there are 3,000 active academic and administrative staff members including 500 UMHSB and Cooperative staff, this gathering is one of the avenue to establish friendly relationship among UUM community," added Tan Sri Siti Sa’diah.
"As we celebrate this joyous day, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Seri Vice-Chancellor and UUM denizens for the various achievements accomplished by the university this year including the latest listing in the QS World University Rankings 2019 where UUM has progressed by leaps and bounds,” said Tan Sri Siti Sa’diah.
"This achievement has placed UUM on par with the world's oldest and prominent universities i.e. the University of Thammasat, Thailand; University of Canberra, Australia; University of Keele, United Kingdom and City University of New York, USA.
"UUM was also listed in the 101-150 band for university under the age of 50 in the QS World University Rankings survey. These achievements were made possible because of the persistent efforts, commitment and profound affection of UUM staff for the university and also the country," she added.
