VICE-CHANCELLOR'S MESSAGE ON THE OCCASION OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD'S BIRTHDAY 1434H
Salam Sejahtera and Salam 1Malaysia,
All praise be to Allah (the Most Glorified), the Lord of the world, and may the peace and blessings of the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), be upon family members, friends, and His followers. Once again, it is because of His abundant blessings, that together we have the opportunity to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad, a historic and noble day, indeed.
I fervently hope that in this year's Maulidur Rasul celebration in 1434H, we will take greater heed of the Prophet's (PBUH) teachings, as this will surely enable us to attain even more meaningful development and more happiness with the blessings of Allah (the Most Glorified) .
In this regard, let us all recall the struggles of the Prophet (PBUH) and make these the important lessons to guide us in our daily lives. For it is in the Word of God, which reads:
“Surely there was a good example for you in the Messenger of Allah, for all those who look forward to Allah and the Last Day and remember Allah much (in good and bad times)" (al-Ahzab: Chapter 33, Verse 21)
As His followers, it only stands to reason that we would want to emulate His character, possess the same moral fiber, and practice the kind of leadership skills exemplified by Him in our daily lives. We must always practice self-reflection.
Ensure that our daily activities are filled with qualities such as honesty and loyalty, that we keep our promises, sustain quality in our work, and that we are trustworthy and professional in governance. With His teachings as our guide, we must diligently work hard and persevere, and God willing, we will achieve success.
We must also appreciate the fact the not all our ideals and aspirations will be fulfilled with the blink of an eye. Nevertheless, we must continue with our efforts and remain as determined as ever until success is achieved. We must embrace the teaching that is advocated in Islam whereby we are called upon to keep an open mind in the face of trials and tribulations. Disasters, hardships and sufferings that seem to befall us today should be a reminder to us to be mindful of ourselves, to remain calm, act positively and be visionary. At the very least, the difficulties that we face now should make us realize the Greatness of Allah (the Most Glorious), and that we will pray to Him, and He will restore everything back to normal.
Hence, I would like to take the opportunity on this auspicious occasion in commemoration of Maulidur Rasul this year, to express my sincere hope that all members of UUM workforce will be imbued with great resolve, renewed determination and extra effort in working towards achieving the success, excellence and glory that we aimed for.
I pray to Allah (the Most Glorified) that the noble efforts from all quarters to make UUM the Eminent Management University in the region will be blessed by Him.
