Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Education

This School was established in 1984, at the same time as UUM's establishment. Initially, this faculty was set up to offer compulsory language courses in the Malay Language and English. It was only in 1997 that the faculty started to offer its own degree programmes and currently the following courses of study are available:

  • Bachelor of Education (Business Administration) with Honours.
  • Bachelor of Education (Accounting) with Honours
  • Bachelor of Education (Information Technology) with Honours
  • Bachelor of Education (Morale Education) with Honours
  • Bachelor of Education (Counselling) with Honours
  • Special Teacher Certification Programmes (PKPG)
  • Master of Science (Educational Management)
  • Master of  Education
  • Master of  Arts
  • Doctor of Philosophy

Besides this, other languages are also offered from time to time like Japanese, Spanish, German and Arabic. Foreign students can also register for the Malay Language and English Courses on an intensive basis before proceeding with their programmed of study.

The  faculty is equipped with two language laboratories, a self-access learning center, two studios and other supporting facilities like CD-ROM and online resources.

Faculty of International Studies

Faculty of Information Technology

Realizing the importance of information technology as a catalyst for national development, UUM set up the Faculty of Information Technology in 1990. In the year 2000, the faculty was split up into two, and facilities and resources were divided according to specialization between the Faculty of Information Technology and the newly created Faculty of Quantitative Science.

The Faculty of Information Technology offers the following programmes:

Faculty of  Management of  Technology

The objectives  Faculty of Management of Technology: To become Malaysian's finest centre of excellence in the area of man agement and technology, To transpire as the main resource and references centre in the field of Management and technology, To conduct research and publish its findings in the field of management and technology.

The Faculty of Information Technology offers the following programmes:

  • Bachelor of Management Technology with Honours
  • Master of Sciences (Management Technology)

Faculty of Business  Management

Initially set up as the Faculty of Management and Accounting in 1984, the faculty was renamed as the School of Management in 1990 when the accounting section was upgraded into the Faculty of Accountancy.
The programmes currently being offered by the Faculty of Business Management are:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours - BBA (Hons)
  • Bachelor of Marketing with Honours
  • Bachelor of Entre preneurship with Honours
  • Bachelor of Muamalat Administration with Honours

Faculty of Accountancy

This faculty was established in 1990 (was initially part of the School of Management and Accounting). Two undergraduate programmes are available in this faculty as follows:

Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality & Enviromental Management

On 15 December 1999, the tourism unit of the Faculty of Management was upgraded to the status of a fully fledged school and named as the School of Tourism Management .
The programmes currently being offered by the Faculty of  Tourism, Hospitality & Enviromental Management are:

  • Bachelor of Tourism Management with Honours - BTM. (Hons)
  • Master of Science (Tourism Management)

Faculty of Economics

The Faculty of Economics was initially known as the School of Economics and Public Administration, established in 1984. In 1994, the School was renamed as the School of Economics, with the public administration component being taken over by the School of Social Development.
The programmes currently being offered by the faculty of Management are:

  • Bachelor of Agricultural Business with Honours
  • Master of Economics
  • Master of Science (Applied Economics)

Faculty of  Human Social Development

The faculty of Foundation Studies was first set up in 1984. This faculty did not offer any degree programmes but offered various subjects in the fields of social sciences and humanities to complement the degree granting disciplines. In 1994, the public administration section which was separated from the Faculty of Economics was absorbed by this faculty and consequently, the faculty was renamed as the faculty of Human Social Development. The following undergraduate programmes are offered by this Faculty:

  • Bachelor of Social Work Management with Honours - B.Soc.WorkMgt. (Hons)
  • Bachelor of Human Resources Management with Honours
  • Bachelor of Counseling with Honours
  • Master of  Sciences (Human Resource Management)

Faculty of Quantitative Science

This Faculty is created as a result of the decision to separate quantitative sciences from the Information Technology Faculty. The only degree programme offered by this faculty is the :

  • Bachelor of Decision Sciences with Honours - BDec.Sc. (Hons)
  • Bachelor of  Industrial Statistic with Honours
  • Bachelor of  Business Mathematics with Honours
  • Master of Sciences (Management)

Faculty of Finance and Banking.

The Faculty of Banking and Finance was initially the Finance Department of the Faculty of Management. In July 1999, this Department was upgraded to become the Faculty of Finance and Banking.All programmes are available in this faculty as follows:

The programmes currently being offered by the Faculty of Communication and Modern Languages are:

  • Master of Arts in Applied Linguitics
  • Master of Arts in Contemporary Malay Language Studies
  • Master of Arts in Communication
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Communication)

 

Graduate Studies Center
The Graduate School was established in 1991. The programmed offered by this school ;

  • Master of Business Administration Programme
The Graduate School has also set up off-campus centres in Sungai Petani (MBA), Kota Bharu (MBA, MBA (Acct), MSc (Ed. Mgt), Kuantan (MBA) and Subang Jaya (MBA). Besides this, the MSc (Management) programme is offered on a joint basis with National Institute of Administration, Kuala Lumpur and the MSc (IT) programme is offered on a distance learning mode with the base in Bandar Sunway, Selangor. An MoU has also been signed with the National Institute of Management, Phnom Penh, Cambodia where the MBA programme is offered. The Graduate School has also academic links with the Trisakti Foundation in Indonesia where students pursue the PhD programme with UUM.
