This School was established in 1984, at the same time as UUM's
establishment. Initially, this faculty was set up to offer compulsory
language courses in the Malay Language and English. It was only
in 1997 that the faculty started to offer its own degree programmes

learning center, two studios and other supporting facilities like
CD-ROM and online resources.

Realizing the importance of information technology as a catalyst
for national development, UUM set up the Faculty of Information
Technology in 1990. In the year 2000, the faculty was split up
into two, and facilities and resources were divided according
to specialization between the Faculty of Information Technology
and the newly created Faculty of Quantitative Science.

The faculty of Foundation Studies was first set up in 1984. This
faculty did not offer any degree programmes but offered various
subjects in the fields of social sciences and humanities to complement
the degree granting disciplines. In 1994, the public administration
section which was separated from the Faculty of Economics was absorbed
by this faculty and consequently, the faculty was renamed as the
