BE THE PRIDE OF THE UNIVERSITY

asasi ikrarUUM ONLINE: The Foundation Studies in Management programme 2022/2023 sessions students should be the pride of the university.

In fact, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah apprised them to emulate the achievements of the alumni who have been acknowledged as successful and distinguished UUM undergraduates.

He also hopes that the students will become holistic graduates who do not only excel in academic but also actively involve in activities conducted by clubs and societies, community services, and also entrepreneurial programmes.

“Seize all the opportunities that UUM offers. Many of the foundation alumni received special awards such as the Royal Education Award, and the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award at the UUM Convocations.

“Many student figures and leaders be it at the Student Representative Council, JKPS President Council, societies, and clubs are the products of this foundation programme. You should set their achievements as the benchmark,” he said at the Oath Taking Ceremony of the New Intake of the Foundation Studies in Management Programme at the Seminar Hall, Islamic Centre today.

Haim Hilman also said, the students should be grateful to be chosen among the 3,821 applicants, who were then shortlisted to 1,950 who were called for an online interview, and in the end only 363 crème de la crème passed the screening and were offered a place in this elite programme.

According to him, the students will never regret choosing UUM as it is a renowned university for its world class programmes in management studies and it provides state of the art facilities to its students.

“Spend the one year study period wisely as this programme requires your utmost commitment, and the students must also be independent.

“No doubt, there will surely be obstacles and challenges that you will face whilst you are on campus.  However, you should never feel that you are alone and if you face problems, please do not run away or keep to yourself. Get help from lecturers, mentors, staff at the Centre for Foundation Studies in Management, counsellors, and your friends. We are here as one UUM big family,” he said.

He also reminded the students to improve their English Language command since it is the medium of language used in the teaching and learning activities at the foundation, as well as at the bachelor degree level.

Always be courteous and practice the etiquettes in learning and always try to understand, respect, and appreciate the unique differences among the campus community who comes from different races, religions, cultures, backgrounds, and ways of thinking.

The Oath Taking Ceremony was led by Amirul Hafidzi Noor Fadzely.
