THE CHINESE AMBASSADOR CONTRIBUTED RM65,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UUM STUDENTS

UUM ONLINE: The Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, His Excellency Ouyang Yujing, contributed RM65,000 in scholarships to the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) School of International Studies (SoIS) at the Visitors’ Lounge.

This scholarship was awarded to 65 SOIS students in 2023 to assist them with their studies at UUM.

At present, there are 744 students from China pursuing their studies at UUM, with 679 at the postgraduate level and 65 at the undergraduate level.

His Excellency Ouyang Yujing presented the mock cheque to the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan just before the two parties exchanged souvenirs as a memento.

Prof. Dr Mohd Foad mentioned that UUM was very delighted to receive a courtesy visit from the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia and the delegation.

"On behalf of UUM, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia for their kind and generous contribution of the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship," he said.

This scholarship stems from the SoIS management's efforts to establish relations with the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia since 2022.

UUM aims to maintain and enhance collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia for mutual benefits and positive outcomes.
