UUM CELEBRATES DOUBLE VICTORY AT NATIONAL OSH AWARDS 2023

6ef51eec 781c 4638 acc3 01e10a2a1bedUUM ONLINE: The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) was honoured with the Public Sector Chief Executive Officer (Public CEO) Award at the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Awards.

The celebration was further amplified as UUM also clinched the National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Award 2023 in the Higher Education Institution (HEI) category at a ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur.

Expressing his gratitude, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad described the achievement as a remarkable milestone for the university, which has demonstrated excellence in OSH management.

“This victory coincides with UUM’s 40th anniversary celebration and follows our recognition as Malaysia’s No. 1 university by the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2024.

“Occupational safety and health are fundamental to all our operations. UUM has thus made concerted efforts to enhance OSH-related affairs,” he remarked.

He noted that this commitment has been realised through comprehensive training and proactive measures toward the well-being and safety of the UUM community.

He also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in helping UUM secure this prestigious award.

Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad expressed hope that this accomplishment will inspire UUM staff to continue striving for excellence in OSH management, both domestically and internationally.

The award was presented by the Minister of Human Resources, Mr. Steven Sim Chee Keong, to UUM Board Member and Chairman of the UUM LPU Risk Committee, Dr Zambri Mat, who represented the university.

Also present were the Director of the Risk Management Division, Mr. Shahrul Nizam Ahmad, Deputy Director Ts. Dr Syazwan Syah Zulkifly, along with officials from UUMKL and the UUM Risk Management Division.
