            4.6  STRATEGIC DECISION MAKING



            DEFINITION

            Ability to make strategic decisions that are characterized by innovation,
            complexity, and openness through the decision-making process,
            implementation and factors that affect the process that helps ensure
            the efficiency of strategic decisions in contributing towards improving
            organizational performance.

            BEHAVIORAL INDICATORS

            •   Evaluate complex problems by considering alternatives for each
                problem in detail and reaching strategic decisions on solutions.

            •   Demonstrate proactive behavior in looking at differences and
                inconsistencies in available information and solutions.

            •   Consider costs, benefits, risks, and opportunities for successful
                solutions when making decisions.

            •   Make decisions based on accurate facts, especially when under stress
                or in the face of ambiguity.

            •   Make correct, timely and effective decisions, distinguish between
                relevant and irrelevant information, and consult with others if
                necessary.
